Stay with us for hotel standard accommodation with a more personal, home-away-from-home feeling.

Wellington City Accommodation is a proud kiwi-owned family business offering boutique lodging in central Wellington within easy walking distance to all key attractions.  We also have a property in Carterton, Wairarapa. We enjoy engaging with our guests if they want advice or information, but also appreciate that you may want to be left alone.  We offer self-contained as well as fully hosted options. Oh, and we aren't just gay friendly - we are gay owned and operated.

Jeff and Dean formal

Here's the team:

Jeff (Owner and Reservations Director)

Jeff, like many in Wellington, works for the government during the day.  But at night he is online managing our bookings and answering future guest questions.

Dean (Owner and Operations Director)

Dean keeps Wellington City Accommodation sparkling clean for every guest. He is normally on-site during the mornings after guests have checked-out.     Dean will be the guy on the phone if you need help during your stay.

Live news of fire that destroys 128 Historic Building

On 25 August 2020 the house next door to City Bed and Breakfast and Wellington City Studio was completely destroyed by fire.  There was also damage to our building with fire entering the top level and burning a heritage vinyl sofa.  The exterior weatherboards, windows and utility connections were also damaged.  The accommodation business closed for 14 months to allow for repairs to be completed and opened again in March 2022.  Here is a link to one of the many media articles about the fire - https://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/wellington/122562719/large-fire-engulfs-heritagelisted-building-in-wellington-cbd

Protecting Wellington's Heritage
We are committed to protecting and sharing Wellington's vibrant heritage buildings.  Three of our properties are heritage listed.  They have been fully renovated in conjunction with the NZ Historic Places Trust and the Wellington City Council.  Each original building was constructed in the 1880s and was moved to allow construction of the inner-city bypass in 2005.  They now have inside bathrooms, secondary glazing and central heating - but retain their historic charm.  The following links provide more information:
